General Shopping
The trail to your shopping needs begins as you enter
town on Highway 243 where busy traffic leads you to
shops you don’t want to miss, such as Country Farms.
Winding your way toward North Circle Drive, the “main
drag”, don’t miss the Village Lane and its eclectic
collection of quaint little stores.
North Circle Drive leads you past many window fronts and
into the center of town. These windows reflect wares
from around the world and offer something for everyone.
Gifts touching past and present eras are available as
well as gifts representative of various cultures and
traditions.
The largest collection of shops is in The Fort, the big
log building you see as you enter town. These fine
shops will keep you busy for hours. On the upper floor
of The Fort is an incredible view of the village resting
at the base of Tahquitz Rock.
A special health food store, Nature’s Wisdom, is to the
right on the other side of Ridgeview Drive. Before you
go there, go to the big parking lot of The Fort and
wander through The Courtyard. Originally built as a
doctor’s office, it houses some special finds such as
The Courtyard Gallery. A local doctor also has his
office there.
Behind The Book Shop, a lane leads to the back door of
Strawberry Creek Square. For survival needs while
you’re visiting Idyllwild, this collection of stores is
where locals go for their many essentials including
Fairway Market, Radio Shack, Idyllwild Pizza, the Post
Office, the Hair Salon, Idyllwild Pharmacy, and more.
As you exit Strawberry Creek Square, take a left on to
Village Center Drive and continue back towards North
Circle Drive. On your way you will encounter the
Idyllwild Totem Pole and JoAn’s Restaurant where the
town Christmas tree is lit each year (the large
Sequoia). As you take a right up North Circle Drive,
you will encounter a variety of wonderful stores,
restaurants, art galleries and a beautiful view of
Tahquitz Rock, the landmark of Idyllwild.
