Welcome to Casa de Calma
Casa de Calma (Peaceful Home) is a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom mountain home built by Michael and Julie Furby in 2003. Located in Fern Valley, one mile east of the village of Idyllwild, CA, Casa de Calma offers all the amenities of a modern home with the romantic flavor of a mountain cabin. This 3,200 square foot mountain getaway hosts a beautiful rock fireplace, two propane gas stoves, a wood burning stove downstairs and plenty of room to plan the ideal family escape from the hustle of your busy city life.
Idyllwild is one of California’s most popular hiking trailheads and resorts, occupying one of the more scenic mountainside locations around. At an altitude of 5,400 feet above sea level (cabin is at 5,800 feet), Idyllwild is approximately 2 hours by car from Los Angeles (110 miles) and San Diego (117 miles) and one hour from Palm Desert/Palm Springs (58 miles). Idyllwild offers clear blue skies, sparkling mountain streams (seasonal) and crisp mountain air. It’s also a place to relax, dine, shop, hike, fish, rock climb, mountain bike, enjoy weekly planned festivities, or to do absolutely nothing at all.
Casa de Calma provides outdoor entertainment as well with a large expansive deck with lots of seating and a barbeque, outdoor music, an outdoor play land (“Kids Heaven”, “Mike’s Dawg Howz” and “Fort Furby”) which include a rock wall, a play house, a slide, a fire station pole, high swings, horseshoes, ping pong, bikes and scooters, tetherball, an electric John Deere, basketball and a large driveway. See the “Accomodations” tab for more details.
You are invited to come and share a peaceful adventure at Casa de Calma. We are certain that you will enjoy the accommodations.
Great Day and Peace,
Michael and Julie Furby
